I am a junior at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and I have been swimming competitively for eight years. Even though swimming can be challenging - even grueling - with lots of tough workouts in and out of the pool, pushing myself to be better everyday is my favorite part of the sport. I love water, I love being part of a team and I love getting faster. Swimming has taught me many life lessons such as not to overly fixate on a result and to find a balance between school, swimming, and friends. Outside of swimming, I am taking several rigorous honors and AP classes, and I'm involved in clubs like Model UN and National Honor Society. Outside of class, I like to learn about economics, the stock market, and cooking. My family gets outside a lot and we also do a fair amount of volunteering - from helping neighbors with moving or dog sitting to building hike and bike trails. I lifeguard part-time as well. I really look forward to swimming competitively in college.
