Hi, My name is James Giles. I am a class of 2025 student at Ramsay IB High School in Birmingham Alabama. I have played tennis for 8 years and I have loved every single moment of it. I had not started taking it seriously until after we won Junior Team tennis state championship in Auburn in 2018 and made it to Sectionals. I think I am a good candidate for any team because of the experience I have and how things have been going great for me. Ever since my mom found the tennis channel in 2019 I have been watching tennis everyday as well as before and after school. What makes me different is that I attend a school where tennis is like at the bottom of loved sports. However, my Freshman year season changed a lot of people's minds after I had a successful Freshman tennis season. I was undefeated for 2 months in one of the hardest sections in 5A. My only 2 losses were to the two best players in our section which made my record 10-2 in the regular season. I made it to the semi-finals at Sectionals. After Sectionals I have had the best summer of tennis since 2019 where I won 3/4 finals and winning a lot of matches. I am also a team leader and cheerleader. At 14, I led an 18U team to the finals. Though we lost in a tie, I won the Sportsmanship Award. I am known for keeping my cool when others are losing control. Team members look to me for motivation and leadership. I am very smart I treat my studies just like I do in tennis and that is why I have mostly A's and a few B's right now at one of the top high schools in the state. This is why I feel that I am a good candidate for your team and have a good day.
