Personal Statement
I am a 6'4", 160 pound left-handed rising senior from the State of Delaware. I have been taking lessons and playing competitive tennis since the age of 7. Having been coached since that time by Gaby Brengle, the coach and mother of Madison Brengle, who currently plays professional tennis on the woman's tour, I would strongly encourage that my coach be contacted to confirm my ability to play at any college level. I have been playing #1 singles for Caesar Rodney High School for the past three years, which is considered one of the best tennis high schools in the State of Delaware. As a Freshman, after having gone undefeated 13-0 in regular season, I was injured during the final conference match and did not get to compete in states. As a sophmore, I was Conference Champion and was ranked as the #2 player at first singles for the state tournament. In the fall of 2010, I was injured playing QB for my high school football team and was out of tennis for six months. In the spring of my junior year, as assistant-captain, I went 21-0, was seeded #1 in the state tournament, and won the state championship. I also led my team to be crowned State Champs for the State of Delaware. Prior to entering High School, I participated in many high level USTA Tournaments. After my injury and rehab in the fall of 2010 prevented me from competing in tournaments, I am now on the road to reasserting myself as one of the best players in the Middle States. Within the last six months, I have been participating in many Sectional and National Tournaments and have improved my ranking from 147 to 42 in the Middle States, from 1100 to 385 in National ranking according to Tennis Recruiting.Net, and have gone from a zero to a 3-star athlete. In addition, prior to and during high school, I was fortunate to be part of two USTA teams that qualified for and competed at Nationals in Arizona. Last year, I helped my team qualify again for Nationals in Surprise, Arizona. This past summer, playing 18s advanced team tennis, we placed 2nd in the Middle States. I have always dreamed of someday playing tennis at the next level and believe I would be a great asset to any college, both academically and athletically. I have an interest in the field of Physical Therapy or possibly Speech Therapy, even though I am not fully committed to any major at this time. I look forward to discussing my future tennis goals and personally proving my tennis ability to those college coaches who are looking for a motivated tennis player who is also a hardworking student and person.
