Personal Statement
So far in my high school career, sports have not been my strongest point. I missed my freshman year of sports after suffering a complete ACL tear and receiving reconstruction surgery. The injury forced me to prove that I am a very persistent person. After 10 months of a brutal physical therapy regimen, I was finally cleared in May 2015. Overjoyed to be back, I returned promptly to lacrosse where I had an amazing summer season. In the fall, I decided to run cross country. I viewed the sport as another opportunity where I can improve myself. This continued through the winter when I joined the winter track team. These sports taught me to act as a leader and to not give up even when you feel like you can't go on.
I became interested in lacrosse right after field hockey ended when I was in sixth grade. As a goalie, I loved the position, the pressure and just the technical aspects of being a goalie. I decided to try lacrosse as a way to stay in shape for field hockey, but those two sports quickly changed roles. Since then lacrosse has helped me grow not as just as player, but as a young woman. It has taught me the leadership and other life skills. Lacrosse has taught me to be able to handle stress and be able to successfully operate under pressure.
In the future, I would like to use the skills I learned playing lacrosse while in the military. I would like to become a physical therapist in the United States Military. I believe that I can use lacrosse as a tool to help me reach this goal.
