Alexandra "Sacha" Mardesich '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Alexandra Mardesich, but everyone calls me Sacha. I started my volleyball journey when I was in fifth grade. My parents had forced me to try out for a small volleyball league since I was tall and athletic, but I had no plans on making a team. I walked into the gym and started crying because I was so scared and begged my Mom to let me go home. Fast forward 7 years and now you have to beg me to leave the gym. Volleyball has become my whole world, my outlet. Of all the sports I’ve done; basketball, lacrosse, and swimming, volleyball has become my priority. I love this sport more than I could ever have imagined and playing it has helped me grow into a person who can’t fathom not giving something your all. Since that tryout in 5th grade, I have grown into a player that I never thought I would be. My goal was to start varsity as a freshman and after I achieved that I’ve only set more goals for the future. In my sophomore year, I was named 2nd team all-conference, and this past junior year I was named 1st team all-conference.

I am looking to continue my academic and athletic career somewhere competitive, where I can learn and grow. My leadership, competitive drive, and positive attitude have kept me at the top of my game while being a supportive teammate. I have had to overcome countless personal obstacles throughout my seasons that have given me a new perspective when I step onto the court.

 When I am playing volleyball I am able to stay focused on what I want to achieve. I have been a captain or leader on every team I have ever been on. Additionally, while playing more than one sport at a time, staying active in my community, and maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout high school, I am proud to say that I am skilled at managing my time. I have a positive, drama free attitude, am very coachable, and never give up. I feel that I am able to acclimate into any environment I am thrown into and would love the opportunity to be a key aspect of any collegiate volleyball program
