Hi Coach! Jadon Skollar here! Excited to introduce myself. – I’ve had a racket in my hand for 8 months and have loved the game since I was 5 years old!
Growing up, I had an awesome advantage – my dad was a D1 player back in the day, and he exposed me to this great sport. My dad and I have been playing the Father-Son Grass court nationals at the Longwood Cricket Club right outside of Boston since I was 10 years old. I loved playing on grass. As I've advanced in my tennis career, I've been able to experience the thrill of working hard towards goals, advancing my game and I've played not only on grass, but grew up playing on hard and clay around the world.
One experience that sets me apart was my training in Spain at the Lozano-Altur Tennis Academy in Valencia, Spain last summer. I plan to continue this training next semester in Spain. These national and international movements sparked in me the desire to play tennis at the highest level and an excellent university experience is a big part of my plans. I just turned 17 and believe I will be top 100 in the 18’s in singles and doubles. I was #18 in the nation in doubles in the 14’s and around top 100 in singles when i hurt my back. My record was close to 23-2 over a few months and was playing 8-10 matches every weekend. After 7 months off to fully heal I decided to skip the 16’s and play up in the 18's.
ITF Events. I’ve fallen in love with playing ITF’s the past year and in Guatemala last November, after two wins to get me into the main draw, I went head-to-head with a player ranked around 400th in the world, Marcos Castellanos 11.24 UTR. I lost a close match 7-6, 6-3, but It was a great experience and it showed me what I'm capable of.
Recently, I had to take four months off due to a wrist injury which I am now fully healed from and I'm back, feeling stronger than ever. I've been training hard and I'm ready to get back into the game, both with 18U USTA tournaments and ITF events all around the world. My UTR is not where it really should be due to missing that past few months but I believe I will accomplish my goal of top 100 in singles and doubles in the nation B18’s over the next 24 months and I believe my UTR will be at or around 12. My other goal is to be top 350 in world junior ITF rankings in the next 24 months.
My game is heavily influenced by Tsitsipas, one of my favorite players. I've got a great one-handed backhand, a heavy forehand, and I love to come to the net, volley and close out the point.
I just turned 17 and getting ready for my junior year, I'm all about stepping up my game. I respectfully ask that you don't let my current UTR fool you. It doesn't reflect my real level. Once my wrist started hurting, I only played doubles, which I love, and I won 3 out of the last 5 doubles tournaments you will see the results on my UTR page. In addition to training with my tennis academy, I have been practicing with William Blumberg and Chris Eubanks which has given me a taste of what high-level tennis is all about.
My character is a big part of who I am. I've actually been recognized with a sportsmanship award at a tournament. I take integrity seriously, both on and off the court. Being honest, flexible and kind is important to me, and I'm proud of how I handle myself even when things get tough.
Thank you for reviewing my profile. I would be happy to hear from you with any questions and have the honor to play for you in person if at all possible, in the coming months.
