Dantz Tullis '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi, My Name is Dantz Tullis I'm a Junior in high school Attending Research Triangle high school in Durham, NC. I have been playing tennis seriously for 10+ years. I hope to achieve my goal of playing for a college on any level. I currently play weekly with my coach and on my school tennis team in the spring. I play #1 doubles in my school team, but when I play singles I'm placed at #3. Last year my partner and I placed 2nd in regionals, and made it to the states but unfortunately did not make it into the semi-finals. As of now, I'm just practicing at least twice a week and playing tournaments to prepare for the upcoming tennis season.

On the court, I’m a team player. For me being in a team isn’t being with a group of guys for a certain period of time. I look at it as a brotherhood. We all learn from each other’s mistakes when one is down others pick him up.  When it comes down to playing and my attitude during tennis I’m very tenacious. I have a lot of hustle in me. I love outdoing the competition and am willing to do all and more to get the upper hand towards victory. I know that victory isn’t always going to be on my side, but I’m motivated by my losses and tend to work harder to improve myself in all areas of my game. Mostly playing doubles myself my partner and sometimes my teammates feed off of my energy. I don't want to put out a mood that I don't wanna be somewhere or have a giving up attitude. I want and show that I mean business, I strive for the best and to win.

In the classroom, I'm a very expressive student. My teachers know me as an outgoing person and someone who is not afraid to ask for help. I know that I’m not the best when it comes to academics, but when through hard work and determination I can achieve and excel in the classes I struggle the most in. On top of that, I have others around me that are willing to do any and all they can to help me achieve the academic standards my parents and I have.
