I have many aspirations and collegiate goals, but the most important of them all is receiving a good education. With that, I would like to major in a field that will fit my interests of business, engineering, and computer sciences. I would love to play for a division 1 tennis team, and I work hard everyday, both academically and athletically, to make that a possibility. Lastly, I would like to graduate school with a degree that will propel me into my career choices in life.
There is no "I" in team. That's not just a corny inspirational statement made by coaches, it is something I truly believe. Although tennis is a rather independent sport, I have always loved a team atmosphere because of experiences from other sports (See Below). My coaches have always made comments to be about being coachable, and helping out other kids on the team is something that comes naturally to me. In truth I do it so that the team as a whole can only get better.
Having been born and raised in Manhattan, I spend everyday around people of all cultures. Because of this I feel that I am very comfortable in my own skin, and around everyone that I meet. I do volunteer work and community service because I also understand that there are people less fortunate than me that deserve to have the same opportunities that I have had.
I have always been a multi-sport athlete, which consisted mainly of tennis, basketball, and football. I'm currently one of the leaders on my Varsity Basketball team, both on the court and in the locker room; to reflect that, I was the guy that the coach wanted to take the last shot. Although I still play basketball, tennis is a year-round sport for me and I train nearly everyday for as many hours as I possibly can. It wasn't until my freshman year of high school that I realized I wanted to pursue tennis over the other sports I played, and made my varsity tennis team that same year. We (Beacon HS, NYC) proceeded to win the Nationals this past school year in California. My dad played college basketball, then later played on a pro tennis tour in Germany. Both sports ran in my family genes, but tennis is now the focus of my life.
Honestly, I am not sure what exactly makes some academically unique, but I have a wide variety of academic interests such as math, science, and photography. I strive to be a true student-athlete, and keep nearly a 3.5 GPA on top of all my extracurricular activities.

Dear Coach,
My name is Michael Misiti and I am the current M&W Head Coach of Adelphi University. In addition to my position here, I also run a junior tennis academy in New York, NY. I am writing to you in regards to my most prized student, Michael Gardiner from Beacon High School. I have coached Michael for nearly three years and I could say without reservation that he is the most diligent and hard working of all the students in my academy.
Michael started tennis many years ago in a more recreational environment while he focused on basketball. About three years ago, he decided to reach his potential in tennis, and never looked back. He has improved his level of play and ranking quite drastically as of late. He is now top 700 in the nation and climbing. Michael is also a part of his High School team, Beacon, which is the #1 ranked High School in Tennis in the United States and will be traveling with them in March to California to defend his school's #1 ranking. He is signed up for all of the sectional designated events in the Eastern section, and he will continue to improve.
Michael is over 6 feet tall with a big serve and a solid all around game. His game is based off of first serve and forehand, which he can hit inside in as well as inside out. He is a solid volleyer and doubles player and continues to improve all aspects of his game. Testimonial to his athletic ability, he was able to jump 3 levels in 3 weeks this past summer at IMG Tennis Academy in Bradenton Fl., which as Nick Bollettieri said, "is unheard of". Michael's fitness is second to none and he loves training both on and off the court.
Most of all, Michael is an excellent student and a great kid. He will bring leadership qualities to your team as well as an unparalleled work ethic. He is very coachable and always looking to improve. In just short of three years, we've managed to take Michael from just above a recreational player to a top notch Collegiate athlete, capable of playing Division 1 Tennis. I would take him on my team in a heart beat, but Michael, his parents, and myself feel it is best to have a new experience outside of our city. Thank you for your time, and any questions regarding my player feel free to call me any time at the number below. Attached again is Michael's video and NCSA profile.
Thank you,--
Michael Misiti
