Personal Statement
My name is Jeremy Boateng and I'm currently a student at Los Angeles Valley College. I started LA Valley College in Fall 2013. I have completed 43 transferable college units with a GPA of 2.9 and I'm currently enrolled in additional 15 transferable college units in this spring 2015 semester. I am currently on Track and Field Team at LA Valley College and my goal is to transfer this year to a four year college and complete my degree program and also compete in track and field at a higher level. Unfortunately due do budget cut the track and field program has been suspended so I'm currently training on my own and competing in all comer events in the Los Angeles area.
I graduated from EL Camino Real Charter High School in 2013 and I was on the Varsity Track and Field team for 4 years.Even though I was accepted to a four year college and was ready to join a Division I track and field team,I decided that it would be better for me to start at a junior college and transfer later. My best time in the 2013 season was 10.60 HT. I competed in the CIF Los Angeles 100 meter finals in 2013. I also competed in the CIF 200 meters and 4 X 100 meters where our 4 X 100 team was selected to compete at 2013 State Championship. In high school I helped break our school record in the 4 X 100 with the time of 42:42 and received numerous awards at the school. Earned the Coaches Award for the 2013 campaign.I also won the following awards in High Schools-State Qualifier, School Record Holder and Inspired Performance award
In 2014 I competed in California State University Northridge ALL COMERS events and had 6.93 in the 60 meters events. I'm also currently training to compete in various all comers events.
My goal is to continue to study hard and get accepted into a good four year university and also compete Track and Field. I love the 100 and 200 meter dash and my coaches tell me I have the potential to do better. I plan to major in Kinesiology. I am choosing Kinesiology as my long term goal is to become a physical therapist, pursue a career in sports medicine and help people who unfortunately get injured. Thank you.
