My name is Zac Lyons, and I live in Tall Grass in Naperville, Illinois. I have been living in that community my entire life. I attended Fry Elementary School, and Scullen Middle School, where I was in Project Arrow, a program for gifted students. I am currently a sophomore at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, Illinois taking Honors English 2, Honors Chemistry, Honors Pre Calculus, and Advanced Symphonic Strings/Orchestra. In orchestra, I play the double bass. I also am in AP European History, and Spanish 3. In my spare time, I play the piano. I have been taking piano lessons since I was 4 years old.
This athleticism undoubtedly carries over into track and field. Last year, I joined the track team. I compete in 3 events. I throw shot put, discus, and run 400m. My PR in shot put is 46’10''. My PR for discus is 152’5'', and my PR for 400m is 53.9 seconds. A lot of football players do track in the offseason, but most people who do track either sprint or throw. I choose to do both. This is because by just sprinting or just throwing, you will either become faster or become stronger, but by doing both you will become a better athlete. I have aspirations to compete in track in college. I would like to throw and sprint too.
As you can see, education and sports are a very big part of my life. I have devoted my time to being the best student athlete that I can be. I don’t have much free time because I am either studying or working out. My goal is to go to college, and get a degree in engineering. I am hoping that I can compete in track and field at the collegiate level as well.
