Personal Statement

As a young boy, when I lived in Africa I have always wanted to be a great runner. I would always go to meets at a private school, I tried to get my mom to sign me up but the school refused because my mom didn’t have enough money to pay the School. But that didn’t stop me from continuing running as a 9 years old child in my village, I finally got into the United States and started school, my seventh grade year i did cross country for a small school called university park campus school, I was running a 5k in 19:60 my first year, I decided to even challenged myself to start running with a high school cross country team. I kept pushing and then 8th grade year I was running 19:15, which is when I tried track and field for my first year, I was determined to force on my grades and 4 sports, track and field, cross country, soccer, ice hockey.  But working all of this things as a 8th grade was hard so I quit hockey and forced on track for the season, on my last track meet I ran 1600 in 5:03 it was a middle school record at my school. I was then moving into High, things got hard but my school and grades motivated me because without my grades or school, then that means no running for me. So I was running over the summer and getting ready for high school cross and track and field. I did cross country on the season of 2017 which is when I reached my goal 18:33 for a 5k I was really proud of myself, but my mom told me that “ hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t train, so this motivated me to even work harder. Track season came and I did 1600 and 400 meter, but when we got into America my mom told me that she will never gonna find money to afford for me for college but I decided to talk to my principal and asked him how can I get a scholarship, he said you can get a scholarship through your sports and other things, so this pushed me to even work harder. So I kept on training over the summer and even ran with some WPI college students to just get ready for track season, I finally got to run a 1600 in 4:45 as a freshman, and then had my nationals which I ran a 400 in 49sc freshman year, but I really never knew I could run that fast but I passed out at the end of the race And fall but wake up and finished third place, freshman  year I have a sent up a 1mile record for my high school and 400 meter record. I now run anchor for my 4x400. I Become the youngest captain ever at my school for a my cross country and I now a 5k in 17:30 and which helped me to get my 1mile to a 4:45, now as a sophomore I became a captain for my track and field team. My dedication to join your track and field team is that I wanna show kids at my school or other schools no matter how small your school or how small you are or how Become, is that you could become noticed to other colleges as long as you work hard and setting up goals, you will make it further then you think, because I go to a small school and I have heard that it had to be recognized by college coaches but I keep pushing and working hard to be noticed. I m involved in an after school program that’s called the rap fair which helps kids understand the history of hip pop and more other things related to history, I m also part of my dance team at my school and the National honors Society and Community Service which helps people who have experienced homelessness to get back on their feet.
