Personal Statement
I am Josh Chezick, a class of 2017 athlete who attends South Lyon High School. I am 5 feet 9 inches tall and weigh 135 pounds, have a GPA of 3.58 and I maintain a strong interest in the healthcare field, more specifically nursing. I've ran track since 8th grade and cross country since my sophomore year, receiving my varsity letter in both sports. I also run for The Edge indoor track team, and have just started that my junior year. I do not participate in any other sports, but I am the president of the school's legislative debate team and a member of CHUM, a program where you assist the CI students. In track I've ran the 4X800, the 1600, 800, and the 3200.
I hope to run D2 or NAIA College athletics, as I believe myself to be a viable contributor for almost any team. I work immensely hard and lead others to where they should be,. My coach has called me a natural leader, as I will be Captain for my senior year of cross country and was given the underclassmen leadership award from my coach. I give my all every single race and never give in, I always kick hard and leave nothing on the table when a race is over. I bring intense, positive energy and leadership every single day.
What makes me most different from other recruits is my work ethic. My sophomore year of cross country was my first ever, and even though I was inexperienced, I trained with the top varsity members of the team and knew that if i replicated them in my own way I would eventually be as fast as them. Even though it was my first cross country race ever and little was expected of me, I placed 5th on my team in my first race and proved that I had put in the work to run with the best on my team. And this past cross country season I came in as a fringe varsity runner, but with strong training and dedication I was our number one runner for multiple races. An intense work ethic is what makes me different from other recruits.
