My name is Adam J. Stewart, but everyone calls me AJ. I am the youngest of four. I have two older brothers: Andy who attends The University of Oklahoma, and Anthony who is in Pharmacy School at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I also have a sister who is a freshman at the University of North Texas. My parents are Kevin and Edie Stewart.
I have lived in Duncan, OK my whole life. I attend Immanuel Baptist Church on a weekly basis, which has always been my church. I have been called to ministry, and am considering becoming a youth minister, but I'm not sure yet. I would also like to be a coach. Whatever I become, I will always put God first and do my best to live the life He wants me to live. Some of my hobbies include riding my unicycle, jamming to music, and playing basketball with my friends.
I have gone to Duncan Public Schools throughout my school career. I am a Junior. I have always had a 4.0 GPA. I am in the Green Club, Key Club, Oklahoma Honor Society, Student Council, FCA, NHS, and Best Buddies. Best Buddies is a program that pairs students with IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) with other students in their high schools to hang out with and just be friends. I am in AP Algebra 2 and my second year of Pre-AP English. I also compete in cross-country and in swimming. I have been a state qualifier in both sports during my freshman and sophomore years.
Now let me tell you about track. Last year was my first year to compete in track. I started high jumping in March (2014) and was a natural at it. On my first day of practicing high jump I cleared 5'6". I continued working hard in the high jump as well as long jump and the 800m. During the summer track season I really started to see improvement while competing with my USATF club team, OK Windrunners. During the summer I cleared 6'1" in the high jump, ran a 2:09 and the 800m, jumped 19' in the long jump, and ran a 54 second 400m. I qualified for USATF Nationals in high jump and the 800m. I placed 12th in the 15-16 year old age group in high jump. My goals this year are to improve as much as possible in the 800m, long jump, and the 400m, and to win the state championship for the high jump.
