Personal Statement
I began running in 10th grade when a friend invited me to join the cross-country team. When I first ran track as a sophomore, I ran the mile. I wasn't very good. In my Junior year, a few weeks into the season, I decided to run the open 400. I did pretty well for my first time ever running at that distance, and it turned my coach's head. He had me practice from then on in running the 400 soon after. I was able to improve quite a bit over the course of the season. I ran my tail off in practice and kept pace with my more experienced team mates. We were able to come together and get our 4x400 team to win the Region 1 meet and get 2nd in State in 5A (along with the fastest qualifying time).
Academically, I'm a very good student with a 3.9 GPA as of now. I have a dream of being in health care because I've found a deep interest in the human body and I love helping people. I got a student of the month award in the health science department this year (2016). I have a passion for music and have been playing the guitar for five years and love the achievement of learning new songs. I'm an Eagle Scout and worked on that for three years.
