Personal Statement
Hey coaches my name is Toran Effland. I'm a student athlete at Olympia High School in Olympia Washington. I am looking to make a positive impact at your school as a student athlete. I find balancing 3 Varsity sports while taking on high level classes and continuing to give back to my school and community as a challenge to become my best. I consistently participate in all weight training opportunities and skill development in all 3 sports to reach my highest potential in competition. I have a strongly built stature but can run a 4.8/ 40 in football. I am 6'1" but hold a starting Post position in basketball. I am an overall athlete diverse in the ability to play as a starter in linebacker, safety, tight end and wide receiver in football and have the endurance/strength to run 400 meters in 57 seconds. I have played competitively in football, basketball and baseball since I was 5 years old but am passionate about continuing on at the collegiate level in track. I was voted a Captain in track though I am only going into my second year of throwing for the track team. I have enjoyed it tremendously while pushing myself outside my comfort zone. Despite my lack of experience and training I made it deep into the post season this last year and found that competing against the top throwers in the state to be beneficial to my future growth. I know with the opportunity to be trained by a throw coach I will grow exponentially at the collegiate level . I've continued training myself in my throwing events between football and basketball practices this summer and have already seen great progress. I have a 3.7 GPA (unweighted) and am looking for a college with excellent academics and the opportunity to be collegiate track athlete. However I have decided to take a gap year and join the Peace Corp and we'll be able to join in 2019
