Personal Statement
Every day I run miles training for competition. In Wisconsin, that means running through sleet and snow, ice and slush. I run before school in winter darkness under the stars, and to the songs of birds in spring and summer. Through my earbuds, I listen to classical music while I think about the races to come, the times I want to hit, and the runners I want to overtake. I also train with weights and exercises to improve my strength and flexibility, and I cycle and swim to boost my aerobic conditioning. My best events are the 1600 and 800 meter runs. In 2015, as a junior in high school, I had the top prep times in Wisconsin in these events. My goal for my senior track season is to keep improving my times and place at the State Meet. This autumn I'm trading in my soccer spikes to run cross-country to devote my entire athletic year to running. In college I want to study astronomy and natural history. The coach who recruits me will have my word that I will give everthing in me to be the fastest runner and the finest athlete that I can be.
