Personal Statement
My name is Jordan Cardenas and I am a 5’11” Libero entering my Senior year of high school. After 8 years of training in Taekwondo, I felt it was time to expand in other types of athletics, something that encompassed more of a team environment, which is how I stumbled on to volleyball. What initially started as a bit of an experiment on a recreational Friday night volleyball league, has now morphed into a passion and love that I have for the game. As I am getting ready to enter my 5th year of club volleyball, I reflect on all I have learned over the past years that I have played. Not only have I grown my skill set and overall understanding of the game, but also developed an understanding of different motivations for others in order for more effectively communicate with players and coaches to achieve the common goals of our team.
My personal goal is to continue playing volleyball beyond high school at the highest level possible. Academically, I plan to study either Criminal Justice or Biology and continue the successful educational path that I have experienced in high school. I am a hard worker and successful student athlete and am focused on carrying those traits into college.
