Ethan James '20 Recruiting Profile

My career in volleyball began during my freshman year of high school. I had never played on a volleyball team, and to my surprise, I was selected to play at the varsity level. My ability to adapt and follow instruction enabled me to grow immensely in just a couple of years. Our team would go on to win the Maui Interscholastic League for the next three years. After my junior year, I played for Maui Encore’s first ever U18 boys volleyball club and was able to attend the SCVA invitational tournament. Overall, our team placed 14th out of 48 and although this wasn’t our greatest accomplishment, I have grown as both a teammate and an individual. I look forward to my senior year in varsity volleyball, as it will allow me to showcase my growth as a player and my drive to excel.

Academically, I hope to pursue a career in finance or economics. I have an aptitude for math and I enjoy learning about the logical science of economics. At my future college or university, I will balance my academic obligations with my athletic obligations through hard work and motivation. I have been gifted with leaping abilities and strong court vision, which enables me to be an effective volleyball player. In the next few years, I look forward to playing at the next level and growing to my fullest potential in both the physical and academic aspects of college. My drive to be the best and work with what I am given is what makes me an exceptional athlete and student.
