Personal Statement

My collegiate goals are to be part of a college/university environment that challenges me to: 1) Be the best, 2) Dare to dream, 3) Pursue constant never-ending improvement.

First, I want to be part of a college/university that challenges me to achieve my dream of majoring in History and becoming a History Teacher. I also want to be part of a college/university volleyball team that challenges me to be my very best and leverage my skills as a leader.

Second, my club experience has taught me what is possible if you stay positive and never give up in any situation. The 2014-15 season was the first season for a boy's team at the Edge Volleyball Club. With all new players, all we could do was practice hard and dream of what could happen if we worked hard and stayed positive on every point! My job was to was to play my position (libero), lead and contribute to the success and attitude of the team. Not only did we support one another, but we also began to see the fruits of our labor. We began to beat established clubs in the midwest and win tournaments. It was our hard work that allowed us to dream of the possibilities. I want to be part of a college/university that challenges me to work hard so I can help a team achieve its dreams.

Finally, starting as a freshman (2013-14) and as a sophmore (2014-15) on the Rolling Meadows' varsity volleyball team, I have Iearned that I am on a journey of constant learning and improvement. I learned how important it is to listen and learn on how to get better. I had upper classmen that depended on me to deliver  for the team. Both academically and athletically, I am always learning and getting better. I am a sponge in the classroom and on the court. I know that I need to always improve my physical/mental skils on the court and my academic skills in the classroom.

Thank you again for reviewing my profile. Being part of your college/university is important to me. It will help me build on my legacy, but more importantly, it will allow me to be part of adding to your team and your college/university's legacy.
