Personal Statement
My main goal as an athlete is to play volleyball for as long as can. Whether I play for a division 1 school, or some recreational club it doesn't matter to me, I just want to play. Volleyball is not a one man sport, every single person on that court plays his part in order to win. I like to think of my teammates as more than just my teammates, more as friends. The best teams are at the top because of the bonds and shared determination that the players have with each other, and that is what I like to have with my teammates. As a middle and opposite hitter, it is key to have good adjustments and vision when playing. Many people can smash the ball as hard as they can, but its only a select few that have the sharpness and whits to make smart moves such as tooling blocks and adjusting to off-sets. My background as a football wide-receiver and a basketball power-forward have made it easy to adjust my footwork, while my height and vertical make it easy to get a full picture of where the blockers hands are placed, and what target is open so that I can hit in that direction. These are just 2 of many skills required for the sport, so I am constantly working on myself to improve in skills that I am weaker in. I'm fine with spending extra ours at a gym to improve on myself because volleyball is my passion. I wouldn't trade it for the world, and that is why I want to play for as long as I can. I hope my love for the sport can take me far.
