Volleyball is undoubtedly the most meaningful activity in my life. Growing up, I was a basketball player. I wasn't very good, but I kept working and working to get better, and I did. Although I had gotten better at basketball, my nerves would take over and I could not perform on the court. Nerves coupled with other things like bullying and bad coaches lead me to fall out of love with the sport. Then entered Volleyball. I would play for fun every Tuesday night at my local pool, and I always found myself wanting to play volleyball instead of basketball. So I did! I loved the sport so much that I started my own beach volleyball club at my high school. It was hard because I was a junior and it was during the peak of the coronavirus. Nevertheless, I got it organized and running. I ran the practices myself until I found a coach a week before the state playoffs. Amazingly, we finished third in the state, surprising my coach, myself, and my partner. This accomplishment means so much to me because it was the first time that I felt confident about something that I organized that turned into something successful.
