Personal Statement
To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Daniel (Velasquez) Wilson, senior at Mojave High School in North las Vegas Nv. I began playing volleyball my freshmen year as a outside hitter for the freshmen team. In the off season I decided that volleyball is a sport I would like to continue in college, I quickly found my self putting in countless number of hours at the gym, camps, and on the court to better my skills in hope of making the Varsity Team as a sophomore. I accomplished this goal and began the season as the starting libero. We quickly turned our volleyball program around from a combined two year previous record of 1-31 to an undefeated season. As a team we were awarded the Sunset Division 1A Championship and the Sunset Division 1A Regional Championship gaining a spot in the State Finals hosted at Chapparal High School. Playing as a defensive specialist for an OH we fell short in 4 sets losing the title. In the following short club season I played for Vegas Xtreme Volleyball as OutSide Hitter 1 traveling to nationals in Reno Nevada. After nationals I quickly found my self to becoming a better volleyball player. Competing in multiple tournament and camps I have become a well rounded player in most postions. Continuing to my junior year my high school team once again went on defeated and awarded the Regional and Divisom title, this time sweeping Clark High School in 3 sets winning the State Championship Title. Over the off season I have dedicated even more time to volleyball. I have learned to be a great defensive back row player in all 3 back row base defensives, aalso learning to consitantly set a ball from practically any where on the court well learning to become a tough server. I can also effectively place a ball from any position well attacking. Being a team player I believe that volleyball is the ultimate team sport and should be cherished by many. I hope to continue my volleyball career at any of the collegiate levels well earning a degree in either business or physical education. I am very well rounded in classroom as well, being the Student Body Vice President along with the yearbook editor in chief. I am very invovled in school and continue to make a positive effect om my teammates and peers.
