In sixth grade I was first introduced to water polo. From the moment I got into the pool, I was hooked. By the next year, I was the starting goalie for my club's 18U D2 team. The following year, I became our 18U D1 team's goalie. Improving my game and skill set is my passion. I feel that playing collegiate water polo will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see just how far I can push myself and my talents.
Before I played water polo, I played goalkeeper for a variety of soccer teams. This experience resulted in me already having great reaction time and and having no fear of getting in the way of the ball. Along with that, I have strong legs and explosiveness, as well as having a strong and accurate arm. I have the ability to direct my team well throughout each game. I also have been appointed team captain for my local team, a great honor for a high school sophomore.
I have achieved a number of aquatics related achievements. During my Freshman year, I was invited to join a club team (Utah United WPC) that is made up of all the top players in the state of Utah. We travel out of state regularly to compete against the top teams in California in both Futures Water Polo league and Junior Olympics. I have been selected for All State multiple times: 2nd Team once, 1st Team twice, as of the end of sophomore season. I have also been awarded a Varsity Letter both freshman and sophomore year in swim. This year I also received the "Most Improved" award during swim season due to my drop from a 1:10 last year to a 1:03 this year in the 100 yard breast. These demonstrate my hard work in the pool year round.
Outside the pool, I am a dedicated student and work hard to maintain a high GPA. I take interest in a variety of different subjects in school, but especially love science. I am an accomplished percussionist, both at school and at home, and have played the drums since fifth grade. I coach my club's 10U, 12U, and 14U teams, where I work to build both a love of the sport, and personal confidence in each of my players.
I am looking to play at a college that will continuously push me to play the best water polo i can possibly play as well as pushing me in school and in building my own personal skills I will use in day to day life.
