Personal Statement
I love the game of softball. It is my goal to play in college and to make an impact at the school I attend, both on and off the field. I am a passionate, hard-working athlete who is a very coachable player. I play softball on an elite travel ball team. As a 14U team, we won several tournament and ended the season going 2-2 PGF Premier Nationals placing us 25th in the nation. As a first year 16U team, we again won several tournament, including the PGF SoCal Qualifier, but faltered at national, going a disappointing 1-2. I am also fortunate to have a sister who plays softball at Lehigh University to emulate. She showed me how hard you need to work to play softball at the Division 1 level and, equally important, to excel in the classroom. Indeed, school is very important to me. I attend Marlborough School, an all girls college preparatory school in Los Angeles. With an over 30% average matriculation rate to Ivy League schools, Marlborough's rigorous academic standards and expectations are preparing me well for college and teaching me how to compete inside the classroom as well. I have maintained a 4.37 GPA (weighted), and I just complete my Freshman year during which I took a rigorous course load that included 3 honors classes (Biology, History and Geometry). As a Sophomore, I am taking all accelerated classes, including AP US History and 4 honors classes (Chemistry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Spanish and English). I am scheduled to complete 8 AP courses by the end of my senior year.
On and off the field, I lead by example and earn the respect of my teammates and classmates through hard work and dedication. I was voted captain of Marlborough School's 7/8 Grade Softball team, which went undefeated on route to the league championship, I played shortstop and earned 1st Team All Del Rey League honors. I also served on student council. As a Freshman, I played onMarlborough's Varsity team in the very competitive Mission League, batted lead off and played Center Field, and received Second Team All league honors and the Coaches' Award. I am a great team player who knows how to prepare to win and loves to compete. I know that I will make a great contribution to the college that I attend and its softball program.
