Personal Statement

I'm Emma, a 14-year-old female softball player who attends a Christian private school. I want to share my collegiate goals and what makes me a unique candidate for your team in terms of athletics, character, academics, faith-based values, my Cambodian American identity, and my journey in softball, which began in middle school.

Unlike some of my peers who started playing softball at a very young age, I discovered my passion for the sport in middle school. Since then, I've dedicated countless hours to improving my skills and knowledge of the game. My goal is to contribute to a competitive softball program that values teamwork, dedication, and a strong work ethic, all while aligning with my Christian faith.

What sets me apart from other recruits is not just my dedication to excelling in softball, but also my commitment to academics, my faith journey, and my Cambodian American identity. I maintain a 4.0 GPA and understand the importance of balance and discipline in being a student-athlete. My education has instilled in me the values of compassion, kindness, and integrity, which guide me in making the right choices both on and off the field.

As a Cambodian American, I also bring a unique cultural perspective to the team. My heritage has taught me the value of resilience, respect, and the importance of community. I'm proud of my cultural identity, and I believe it enriches my ability to connect with teammates from diverse backgrounds.

I may have started my softball journey later than some, but my determination and rapid progress demonstrate my commitment to the sport. I'm always eager to learn and improve, and I'm excited about the opportunity to develop my skills further at the collegiate level.

I pride myself on being a team player, a strong communicator, and a supportive teammate. I'm excited about the opportunity to be part of a team that shares my values and faith, and I'm eager to contribute to its success.

In conclusion, I'm not just a softball player with a dream of playing at the collegiate level. I'm a dedicated student-athlete who values excellence in academics, athletics, character, and my cultural identity. My commitment to balancing these aspects of my life sets me apart and makes me a valuable addition to your team. I look forward to the opportunity to continue my softball journey at the collegiate level while embracing and promoting the values of my faith and celebrating my Cambodian American heritage, all while showcasing my determination to grow as a player, even though I started in middle school.
