The lessons I have learned from softball have also served me well in academics and other aspects of my life. Whether working on a math problem at home or working on a certain part of my swing, everything is about practice. Not just working until you get it right but working until you can't get it wrong. I never took part in in any other sports because softball is what I wanted to do and that is where I set my goals and priorities for. I have always been described as a hard worker, a quick learner and someone who sets their goals and works to meet them. Softball is a game of failure, recognizing your mistakes and making the right adjustments to fix it next time. That is an aspect where I take pride in for the game. The most valuable skill my hitting coach has taught me throughout the years was the ability to evaluate and correct my own swing. I extensively utilize game and practice videos to turn weaknesses into strengths. That attention to detail has gotten me where I am today.
I am going to use that same determination and preparation to excel in academics in pursuit of my Business degree. I will be exploring several disciplines within business to determine a specialization for my career.
