E HUNT SOFTBALL #...Personal Statement
Just being upfront, I have had two ACL surgeries, one on each knee; injuries sustained during game play (2017 - basketball, 2019-volleyball). While some collegiate coaches may pass me over for just this reason, I would like to articulate why these experiences count in my favor. One, passion to compete - this kept me focused during rehab, and the results paid off when I earned a starting varsity position as a freshman. Two, I gained an appreciation of watching sports from the bench - seeing the strategy, different coaching approaches and player reactions. Lastly, I learned how to lead from the side-line by being at every practice, participating at the level I was cleared for, and always encouraging my teammates.
A consistent theme from my various coaches, regardless of the sport, is that I am very coachable. I believe this would make me an asset to your team. Most importantly, I am looking for a program that will help my grow in character and as an athlete.
