Hello! My name is Meghan Pereira and I will be a 26' graduate from Joseph Case High School in Swansea, Massachusetts. I started playing recreational softball when I was seven. Since then, I have completed four seasons of rec, two seasons of fall, winter, and spring ball, and am going into my sixth year of travel ball. As of this point in my career, I am a hitting RHP, and utility player on both my travel and school teams. For my third year of playing with my South Shore Chaos '26 team, we will competing at the 16U level and will partake in several showcases. For my second year as a varsity player in High School, I will be one of the starting pitchers. Last year I came on to relief-pitch and hit sparingly on the varsity team, but if I was not on the field, I did our score-sheet and cheered on everyone. When I was needed on JV, I would start and finish each game and hit. As my high school season extended, long into the post-season, I was finally able to get comfortable with my hitting and pitching mechanics even though I did not see the field. On both teams, we strive to have an energetic and supportive atmosphere that is simply infectious between the players and fans.
The following are very important to me as my career progresses. Being able to balance school and sports, and to go somewhere that will challenge both aspects, while also having an inviting atmosphere. I can't sit still for extended periods of time, so I enjoy to busy myself throughout the school year, and find myself in many clubs and after-school activities year-round. Freshman year alone I have participated in the School Store, Volleyball, Drama, Student Council, and Softball. When I go off to college, I hope to study Biology, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Spanish, or Sports Management. My goal by the end of college is to be able to stick around the game of softball for many more years and hopefully to rebuild the travel organization in my town that has muddied its reputation. I always want to improve my field of knowledge and I have a desire to learn how things work. On that note, I have realized throughout the years that I have a perceptive eye (for personalities and mechanics) and an approachable personality, which increases my ability to help communicate with others.
As the saying goes: "Softball is a game of failure" and over the years, I can guarantee this statement to be accurate. I would not be the competitor I am today if it wasn't for those failures and the individuals that built me up over the years, both of which I am indefinitely grateful for. Throughout everything I do, I strive to give 110% and to better myself and others through analysation, practice, and progressive thinking. Regardless of whether I am on or off the field, I strive to remain vocal and engaged in the game by cheering and communicating plays, or paying attention to the mechanics of a player- to see where they can improve. I have a very strong interest in showing younger players the correct/healthy mechanics, and will always try to help those who need it or seek it out. Personally, I am a tactile learner. That means I learn best by doing, which may include mimicking mechanics someone is demonstrating, as they are doing it.
