Personal Statement
My name is Samantha Kiser and I am currently a Senior attending Old Mill Senior High School located in Millersville Maryland. I maintain a 3.65 unweighted GPA and a 4.12 weighted GPA. I am concluded my Junior year as part of the top 10% of students in my class of 520 students ranking #28. While attending Old Mill I am placed in many honors and advanced placement classes. I have completed 7 Advanced Placement classes, including, Human Geography, US Government and Politics, Statistics, Physics, Calculus, World History, and Language and Composition. Achieving the best grade possible is very important to me and I can assure you I am a very dedicated student in and outside of the classroom. I am also a member of Old Mill High School’s National Honor Society.
I finished my Junior Season on the Old Mill High School Varsity Softball Team where I have played since my Freshman year. I am playing the 2016 season with the Maryland Stars 18U Gold Travel Team. I am looking to continue to improve my softball skills and want to continue playing softball during my college career. I am also Captain of the Old Mill High School Varsity Field Hockey Team where I have played since my Freshman year.
Along with softball and school, I have many other interests and hobbies. I am very active in my church youth group for example. My youth group does many volunteer activities in the community. Such as we volunteer to repair people’s homes or we help serve the homeless. My youth group and I also attend a camp to help repair people’s homes in Frostburg, Maryland every summer called CAMP HOPE. I also teach Sunday school to first and second graders every Sunday that I can. This summer I participated in the Chesapeake Bay Work Camp with Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church where we worked on 37 homes in the Anne Arundel County Maryland area. I enjoy learning about new topics by reading. But most of all I really enjoy giving back to my community or to those that are less fortunate.
