Personal Statement
I started playing softball at the age of two. It started like everyone else, playing catch in the backyard with my father. I think my love for softball grew as I watched my dad play slow-pitch softball on the weekends. I got very interested with the game at a young age. I'm glad I did, or I don't think I would be the way I am today. For the most part I like to think my dad was a huge inspiration for me. Not only did I look up to him, but I wanted to be just like him. I wanted to be on the pitching mound and playing the game.
I've dreamed of playing softball for a college since I was a little girl. At that time I didn't realize how hard it was for that to actually happen. I now know that to get into a big college (or any college) it takes a lot of commitment and hard work and I'm willing to do whatever it takes. I know that you can't just be good on the field, you also have to be good in the classroom and I want a good education. I want to go to college for law. I got interested in law when I was twelve taking a business class. It caught my attention because it wasn't an ordinary job. I like the idea of the entire court system and I want to be a part of it. I would prefer to be a prosecutors attorney, but I have to work my way up to get there. As of right now I am currently keeping my grades up and I always do. I have always been on the honors list every semester and I will continue to stay there. I would like to say I am a rather smart person, everything comes fairly easy to me.
In my personal opinion I feel I am also a smart softball player. I know the game very well. I try to be a team leader and get my team fired up before our games. Even off the field I feel it's important to bond as a team. Not only do I want myself to get better as a player, but I also want the team to get better. I want everyone on the team to improve, even if that means helping them with school. I think it is very important for the team to help each other out. That is what makes a team a good. Not just the ability/skill, it is a lot about the attitude of the team. One poor attitude can hurt everyone. You win as a team or lose as a team, there is no individual person. I have a high intensity for the game, and I'm very dedicated. I do a lot of extra work on my own and also with the help of my parents, such as pitching, hitting, and fielding. Both my parents encourage me and help me in softball and anything I do.
If I were to describe myself as a person, I would have to say hard working, funny, and outgoing. I will go out of my way to make anyone smile. I like to make jokes and be a little silly, but I am serious when I need to be. I have a strong personality and get along with just about everyone. I am very athletic and take sports very seriously. I feel I have a lot to contribute to both the college I attend and the team that I may play on in the future.
