As a freshmen in high school no one expects to see the varsity field as much as I did. I worked hard and earned a starting varsity position in the outfield however there were other voids I had to fill. Our starting shortstop was out for the majority of the season with an ankle injury. This then forced me to step up and be a leader by contributing to the team in whatever way I could. In this case it was playing shortstop. Of course shortstop was not my primary position so playing there allowed me to explore my potential and figure out who I really am as a softball player. It was a big year for not only my individual growth but also for my team.
I am fortunate to have my family, coaches, and teammates behind me with whatever I do. Being the coaches daughter comes with some higher standards. However, if it weren't for those higher standards and me wanting to reach them I would not be who I am. The constant self motivation to be the best I can be on and off the field helps me achieve whatever I put my mind too. Both academically and athletically. I believe that there is something I can always do to improve myself. With this mind set I can make myself a better athlete and lead my teammates to being better athletes!
