My name is MacKenzie LaClair, I am 5' 7" and 140 pounds. I am currently playing softball for Laurel Highlands High School in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. I played t-ball when i was 4, then played baseball until I was eight years old. At the age of 9, i started playing softball and I loved it ever since. My main position is pitcher but I can play anywhere, infield or outfield. Wherever a coach wants to put me is where I'll play. My freshman year, I was starting pitcher and hit four homerun's total. I took my team to the playoffs but we only made it to the first round. The entire season, we went 7-5. My sophomore year, I was only able to pitch one game due to a shoulder injury. Even though I only pitched one game, I convinced my doctor to let me hit and run for my team, to make it a great year! I played travel ball for Pittsburgh Nitro. I pitched a good bit that summer and my shoulder was feeling great. I started to play fall ball with my school and started having troubles with my shoulder again. They finally did surgery to see what was wrong. They found out I had a labrum tear which kept me from playing my whole junior year. It is now my senior year and I am going to be starting pitcher. Ever since the doctor said I could pitch is when I started pitching. My shoulder feels great now! With the injury, it has kind of put me behind with trying to play for a division one school, but my hopes are still high! What makes me different from other recruits is that I am a team player and am willing to work hard and be the best I can. I play with heart and determination to win. I am a very enthusiastic, dependable, and coachable player. When I am on the field, I hustle and play the best I can. I practice everyday with my dad. I never really had pitching lessons, but there is a pitching coach at my high school who has helped me a lot. My goal is to make it to a Division 1 college and I do think I have what it takes to play at the collegiate level. I don't have a video of me on here but there is a video on YouTube of my softball game. If you type in south Union television, there should be a softball game that says mustangs versus greensburg Salem.
