Getting chosen to play in the USA Softball All-American games in the summer of 2020 was the highlight of my softball career. Playing at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium and meeting new teammates and coaches has helped me grow as a teammate and a player. This experience has taught me to be thankful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and to develop from it. I learned that softball is a lot more mental than I thought. For example, I have to know what play to make, which strategies to use, and which technique would be best for once the ball hits my bat or glove. This event has led me to concentrate on my own efforts on becoming a solid fielder/pitcher and hitter.
I was fortunate enough to play for Darlington Girls Softball League up to the age of 10. I played one year of baseball when I was four and once I hit the age of 5 it was time to switch to softball. I started 10u at the age of 7 and continued to play for DGSL until I was 9 years old. I realized I needed more competition for myself to get better since I wanted to continue to play the sport I love as I grew older. I will always think of DGSL as "where it all started" and always be thankful for getting to play for them. Moving forward, the travel teams I have been on have taught me the importance of teamwork, commitment, and leadership. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me both athletically and academically. I not only have the talent to compete for a college team but the character, work ethic, and leadership skills to make a positive impact on your team.
