My name is Tess Catalan and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I started playing baseball in fourth grade and made the switch to softball in sixth. My primary and best position is catcher. I have caught since starting softball in the sixth grade. Ever since then, it has been one of my favorite things to do. When I started to catch, I was the only catcher on my team and so I was trained to be able to catch multiple games in their entirety in a single day. People may think that is a crazy thing to expect from middle school and now high school player, but it is the way I was brought up to play the position. I have called up to five pitches and caught for many levels of pitchers. I received the MVP award at an invitational tournament in 2014 in Guilderland, New York. I am a player who gets along with my teammates, loves meeting new people, and is always up for a new challenge. Since beginning to play the sport, I knew it was my passion and that it would be a dream of mine to play at the collegiate level.
I am an honors student at LaSalle Academy in Providence, Rhode Island. I work hard for my grades and have been on the honor roll for every quarter of my high school career thus far. I plan on majoring in biology and eventually going on into an optometry program. I am a libero on the varsity volleyball team and throw shot put for the varsity track team at my school as well. I have always been both academically and athletically driven and have succeeded in finding a balance in the two. Once again, thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
