Personal Statement

I have been playing softball since I can remember.  I started with a competitive travel team when I was a 10u player and I have loved the game ever since.  As I have continued to play, my goal to play in college continues to strengthen.  I truly believe I can be an asset to a college team.   I am typically the first one on the practice field and the last one to leave.  Practice time is just as important to me as game time.  More often than not, after a team practice I will come home and do more work in my basement, or go do throwing drills with my dad.

My competitive travel team the Attitude Roadrunners 2000 has been very successful.  We excel in local Utah tournaments and travel to Nevada, California, Arizona and compete very well against those teams.  I feel I am a major contributor to their success.  I have one of the highest batting average on the team, and make few errors in the field.

On the flip side of that is my high school softball team.  They are more used to losing than winning.  The majority of my teammates do not play competitive softball and they struggle on the field.  I guess I could get angry or depressed about my high school team but I believe that it motivates me more to be a leader and a mentor to the girls on my team.  I believe my teammates see me as a mentor.  They come to me and ask for help on their T-work, batting stances, and form.  I enjoy helping them improve.  I revel in their successes during the high school season.

I hope to study nursing in college.  It is my dream to be a pediatric nurse and work with children.  I work just as hard with my academics as I do on my softball.  I know that I will be a successful college student and softball player.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
