Personal Statement
I been playing basketball since I was a kid but never thought of playing until middle school after all the coaches would insist me on doing so and many family members. Then I played basketball my entire high school life and feel very passionate about it. I always gave my 100% no matter what the circumstances may be because I love basketball and I am very dedicated and committed on what I love to do. Freshmen year I started on JV because I was not familiar with organized basketball and got the hang of it. Later came sophomore year, I became JV captain and our team was impressive for the amount of people we had. I remember clearly in this one game during a tournament we were losing by 10 and we had 2 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, I told them to keep their head up and not give up in a timeout. We kept pushing through and stayed focused and next thing you know we are down by 5 and there was 1 minute remaining. I sprinted to my spot and the point guard passed me the ball then I made a 3. They tried bringing the ball down the court and I forced a turnover, then I passed my teammate a dime and she made a 3 leaving 12 seconds on the clock with hard defense which led to our victory. Throughout junior year, I was Varsity captain and almost the same scenario occurred in a tournament in McKinleyville. We were being consistent in the last 2 minutes and kept our heads up and ended up with another win just like that. Those moments always give me the inspiration and motivation to just keep going and never giving up. I am looking forward to my senior year and leaving with a bang. I am a spot up shooter and I can score off the dribble as well. I motivate my teammates to keep it up and stay humble. I am coachable, disciplined, and cooperative according to my coaches.
