My name is Keziah Faith-Destiny Goodway. I first became fascinated with basketball at the age of 8, when I encountered a co-ed team playing pick-up at a local community center. I then started out on a 10 and under team with the YMCA, where I was chosen to play point guard. From then to present I continue to play that position. Each summer from sophomore year to presently, I volunteer as a basketball summer camp counselor for a local recreation center. During that experience, I gained an immense understanding of patience working with kids aged 6-11. Being the oldest of 2 siblings, I had to learn responsibility early on in life. I have also learned to appreciate my Blessings through some of my family's oppositions. But because of my parents' Inspirational Speaking hobby, I was influenced to also motivate and uplift others on the basketball court. Because of my smaller frame, the biggest phenomenon I've learned thus far is that I am stronger than I think both mentally and physically. I've also learned that my size does not define my ability.
I currently have a 3.8 GPA. I have been inducted into the National Honor Society. While attending Savannah Christian Preparatory School, I started on the Varsity team as a freshman. I also received 2nd Team All- Region and was named All Greater Savannah Honorable Mention as a freshman. After suffering an MCL tear my sophomore year, I received the team's Highest GPA Award. I then went on to receive an All- Star nomination with my AAU team that summer. After my parents' financial hardship, I transferred from Savannah Christian Preparatory School to begin my Junior year at Woodville-Tompkins High School and Career Academy. At Woodville; I received the Coach's MVP Award, led my team to their first ever Region Championship, and was nominated a second time for an All- Star appearance. I was also invited to play in Australia.
My goal is to graduate high school with Honors and rank well in my high school class. I also aspire to graduate college with Honors. Although I am currently undecided on my major, I am interested in Business and Law studies. I am seeking a college that I can contribute my skills and experiences. I would love to be affiliated with a quality match. I am open to diverse colleges, but I am also looking in the direction of HBCU programs as well. I desire to become a great asset and inspiration to all my peers and make my family proud.
