If it's not a game day or if I don’t have team practice, you can find me in my driveway with a ball in my hands, or with my trainer working to improve my game. You could say basketball is in my blood, several of my family members have played the sport at the collegiate level. I began playing basketball in the third grade, but I truly found my passion for basketball when the COVID-19 pandemic hit two years ago. The afternoons I spent working out on my own really kept me focused and grounded while everything around me was changing and unknown. My dedication to the sport during those hard times helped me to earn the opportunity to play under Coach Joe Wootten, who undeniably made me a better player both mentally and physically. I also earned a starting position on the varsity team at my high school this past season. Having all these incredible experiences over the past couple years has strengthened my desire to carry on my game at the next level.
Off the court I am equally as dedicated to my studies. When I was younger, I underwent heart surgery to correct a medical condition. This made me realize that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. I feel that I have the dedication to excel both academically and athletically at a collegiate program. Any of my teammates could tell you that I am very competitive, and I love to win. With that though, you have to learn to take the losses and mistakes, and turn them into an opportunity to learn and grow. Ultimately, my goal is to become the best player possible. I also realize the importance of the team concept, and I strive to make my teammates better along with me. I know I have what it takes to be a leader, and to contribute to a team!
