I knew I had a passion for the game of basketball when I first picked up a ball in kindergarten. I remember telling my parents that I wanted to play more and they signed me up for clinics, camps, and even let me play in an all boys league which I think made me more aggressive. My passion for the sport has grown over the years. I have been fortunate to have some very knowledgable coaches and I have learned that listening to their advice is key to my development as a player. One of my greatest strengths is my vision on the court. Basketball is a lot like the game of chess and I always want to be a few steps ahead of my opponent. It is important for me not only to score, but to make my teammates better as well. Basketball has taught me to time manage, become a leader for my teammates, and the work I put in off the court will reflect during a game. In sixth grade my AAU team competed for the AAU National title and we made it all the way to the championship game and we were the favorites to win after beating a fierce team from Texas in the semi-finals. We worked so hard, but fell short of winning. At the time, I was devastated, but it made me realize that I needed to work harder for next year. I put my head down and got to work. I made sure I touched a basketball every day that year until the following AAU National Championship and we took home first place. It was an incredible feeling to overcome loosing the year before. In college I want to be challenged academically and I am leaning towards majoring in business. I am looking forwards to continuing my basketball career at the college level.
