Personal Statement
I have lettered in basketball all four years of high school. I have started for four years, and I have been a captain for 3 of those years. Playing Class A basketball at the age of 14 was a huge step in my outlook on basketball. I realized not only did I love the sport, but I also had a real future in it. I have devoted more hours to this game than I ever imagined possible, and I don't ever want that to stop. Basketball is a lifestyle for me, and it is a huge part of my identity. Basketball is my single greatest passion in this life, and there is no amount of work that I could give this sport to repay it for everything it has done for me. I'm looking for a college that will push me to reach my full potential both academically and athletically.
Though basketball is a huge part of who I am, I am more than just an athlete. I am a friend, a teammate, a daughter, a sister, and a mentor. I coach youth basketball camps during the summer, and I love working with kids. I have also worked with large non-profits such as Habitats for Humanity. I played a key role in starting the first Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence club at our school. On my transcript, you will see that I have taken ceramics two years in a row. It may look like a blow-off class, but I love making pottery. I like to take classes the genuinely interest me, and that is reflected on my transcript. As an athlete and a person, I like to push myself. The link to my ceramic website is laurasceramics.weebly.com
