Personal Statement

I started playing basketball in second grade, second through fifth grade I played community ed ball, two weeks a year. During sixth and seventh grade years I played for a small 1A town Junior High team. Eighth grade year I started on JV and about mid-season I was also playing Varsity. For my freshman year I moved to a much bigger school, 4A Bemidji, and played on a great freshman team and at the end of the season I was on JV again. Sophomore year up until now I have been starting Varsity. For the past two summers I played for a small AAU team of northern girls called the Minnesota Gym Rats. After going to an exposure camp put on by the Minnesota Comets before this season, I was invited to play in a tournament and I was immediately asked to play for the Comets. Do to the fact I was late to the game, the elite team was full, but I still have the opportunity to play for the select team and I am so excited!

My collegiate goals are quite cut and dry. I want to go to a school, either D2, D3, or NAIA, to play basketball and, most importantly, one that has my major. I also want the school to have my Grad program so it will increase my chances of being accepted because I want to either go into occupational or physical therapy with a minor in psychology. I have worked very hard in my studies with all of my college and AP classes in order to be able to keep a 4.13 GPA. I know that through my academics I will be able to get into a school that would be good for me, but that wouldn't be enough, I want to keep basketball in my life. I know my schooling and future are so important, but I will only have these last four years to competitively play the game that I love, the game that is so special to me. I have the rest of my life to focus on the rest of my life, but right now I have basketball and I want to get everything I can out of it.

Basketball shapes my life, its my motivation to get up and lift, to go for those late night runs, to spend those extra 45 minutes shooting after practice, to continue putting in those hours in the gym alone because I am improving my game. I know I'm not going to make every shot, I know I'm going to make some dumb turnovers, I know there are going to be a plays that I don't make, but I also know that I will hustle my butt to get up and down that court, I am and will be coachable, and I will work harder than anyone.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
