Personal Statement

Since 3rd grade, the game of basketball has been my passion.  I'm a hard-working individual on and off the court. As a student, I've maintained a 3.85 GPA throughout high school.  Leadership is one of the aspects I've worked towards developing on the court and in my day to day life as well.  If I'm not shooting hoops in my spare time, I'm working to get better. The first time I met the Brunswick Varsity Girl's Basketball coach, Halle Lengal, back in 4th grade, my goal was to one day be a part of her team. Playing basketball throughout middle school for my CYO team Saint Ambrose Church and also playing AAU ball for SMAC in 6th grade, my skills improved greatly and I strived to be the best I could be. My freshman year of basketball (2013-2014) I achieved my goal of playing on the Varsity team for Brunswick Girl's Basketball. Being a starter on the varsity team my second year I have higher expectations of myself and our team as I continue to grow. Kevin Durant once said, "The more sweat you put into practice, the less you bleed in battle." Reigning true to itself, hard work always pays off. As a high school basketball player, one of my goals next year is to be voted captain of the girl's varsity team.  Not only would this take leadership to achieve being captain, but also drive and effort.  Another one of my long-term goals is to have an opportunity to play basketball at the collegiate level. The game of basketball has always been there for me, it's one of my few escapes and if one day I become too old to play, I'll be able to look back on the game and have no regrets.
