My College Aspirations:
At the moment, I have not given much attention to what career I desire to pursue. Although I am interested in medicine and business. I know that basketball will be a part of my journey. I expect to build off this platform to network with coaches, players, and future leaders. I am open to international business and possibly starting basketball camps in the Philippines for ladies.
What makes me a good candidate for a team?
First, I am self-aware and understand what I bring to the table, per se. My ability to lead and bring a team together is one of my greater strengths. I play sacrificially for the empowerment of the team. Coaches, players, and my parents can vouch for my character. I don't have to have all the limelight, I just don't want to be lost in the moment either. Don't get me wrong, I am super-competitive but it is not all about me. I can hold my own on the court and have no problem proving others wrong. Also, I am defensive-minded and quick-witted. I am able to make sound decisions quickly and can cause turnovers. Not to mention, I have above-average ball-handling skills and can make room for myself to shoot.
What makes me different?
I get that coaches and schools are looking for the "perfect fit" or "the missing piece" for the team. And for the most part, basketball players are not all that different. But here is what I can tell you about my character--I hate lying. I hate stupidity. I hate when others are taken advantage of or misused. I am about the honest life; the life where a person has nothing to hide. I am an opinionated but "a matter of fact" kind of girl. I finish what I start and often find myself working with my hands a great deal of the time. I am an athlete but my identity is more than just being an athlete. I am family-oriented, passionate about justice and doing what's right, and enjoying the good life. Respectfully, I know there are those who are smarter, faster, taller, stronger, and more intellectually inclined but I am not afraid of such people. I know what my limits are and what motivates me to be the kind of person I envision--a fierce woman with a soft heart for the underdog who is willing to provide a helping hand.
