Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
My name is Alexa Menoyo and I attend Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, MA. I am currently a junior and I have been diving for a little over a year now. I dive with Boston Area Diving and my coach is Joe Chirico. This past summer I competed in my first AAU nationals on both one-meter and three-meter. I competed in the Irish Open National Championships in Dublin this past November getting fourth on one and three-meter. My academics are extremely important to me. I have maintained a 3.7/4.0 GPA. As a junior, my GPA is 3.9. Beaver Country Day does not offer AP classes, I have taken the equivalent honors classes in multiple subjects such as English, history, and Spanish.
As I do not have much time outside of school and diving I do try to volunteer and do things that I am interested in that benefit the community. This previous summer I volunteered with a local dog shelter, which I very much enjoyed. At the beginning of the summer, I attended a youth leadership conference called HOBY. I also volunteered at the American Kidney Fund. Lastly, I do identify as Latin as one of my father's is Puerto Rican. At school, I lead the LatinX affinity group every other week. I plan out activities and discussions for us as a group to come together and discuss what being Hispanic means to us. What makes me different, is that I have only been diving for 18 months and know that in the right program with outstanding coaching, I possess much potential. Thank you for your time!
