Personal Statement
My name is Halle Auf Der Heide and I am a Senior at Jack Britt High School in North Carolina. Growing up as the daughter of a golf professional, I first picked up a club when I was six years old, but I have been around the game my entire life. I am a passionate player with a broad knowledge of the sport. I am eager to find a school with a strong academic program and a competitive golf team that will give me the opportunity to make the most of my college experience while preparing for life outside of it.
In school and in golf I always set high goals. I have a desire to exceed the expectations others have of me and the expectations I have for myself. I am disciplined and put 110% of my effort into everything I commit to. I will only turn in my best work at school and I aspire to continue my education and golf game into college and beyond. I am an out-of-the-box thinker, which allows me to be an open-minded student. I pride myself in maintaining a positive attitude on and off the course and never allow negative results to pull me down. I am enthusiastic towards any task at hand and I try to boost the moods of those around me.
During the two seasons I played high school golf, I was the most experienced player on the team and helped lead my school to a level that it had never seen in girl’s golf. Our team won the title of Conference Champions for the first time in our schools history. I won my schools Player of the Year award, made the All Conference first team, and competed in both the 4A Regional, and State championships in my freshman and sophomore year. In my sophomore year I also won Conference Player of the Year by winning 5 out of 7 matches that season. I am a supportive teammate and was the team captain and leader for our team. I helped many of my less experienced teammates and we grew to be a close-knit team and a great group of friends. I am looking forward to building this same type of strong relationship with my future college team and to support and lead them to be the best we can be.
In an effort to improve my golf game, I began rigorous physical training with a personal trainer and tried to eat healthier. It was then that I fell in love with fitness and nutrition. I would like to pursue a major in Kinesiology with a minor in nutritional science. I have discovered the amazing feeling you get when you push your limits and accomplish incredible challenges. Increasing my strength and flexibility has given me more power to hit the golf ball and I believe my distance is one advantage I have over my competition. When this is combined with my sound fundamentals, repetitive routine and setup, understanding of the game, and good character, I can be an asset to my team.
