Golf came into my life late, I didn’t grow up playing it or even knew about the sport until about 10. I was always doing other sports like soccer and track. I didn’t love those sports but still partook in them because I loved being active. Until I found golf, sophomore year, it was an interesting sport for me because it seemed like everyone else knew what they were doing, which meant, I had some work to do. I started practicing every day no matter what, even if it was in living room just swinging an iron. By the end of my first season I successfully dropped 40 points off my score, each tournament my score got progressively lower. During the course of the end of my sophomore season to the start of my junior year, I knew I still had a lot of catching up to do. So I chose a goal and it was to be top 10 in my region. It might have sounded like a crazy goal for only playing for one year but I knew I could do it. I used my competitors as motivators and not as intimidation, it was fun to make friends and learn from girls who were better than me because i believe that surrounding yourself with winners makes you one too. But it also all come down to yourself, you have to believe that you, yourself, can do whatever you put your mind to no matter where you started or what you come from. So by the end of the spring season of 2023 I made top ten in region 7, and placed 8th in the region championships, after 2 years of playing golf.
