Helena Stewart '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Helena Stewart and have been doing gymnastics since I could walk. When I was little, I would always try and balance on everything. I loved to climb and jump from things. My mom signed me up for a gymnastics recreational class when I was four years old and has been doing gymnastics ever since. Gymnastics has helped me grow in confidence that I will be able to use throughout life. This past year was my first level 9 season. I did not have a fear of the gymnastics itself but was faced with the mental challenges and blocks of gymnastics. No matter how hard I tried to tell myself that I could do a skill, I would still fall. I became frustrated with each practice and meet. I was fortunate to have support from my mom and coaches and started to work with a coach on how to take my stress and frustration and use it to help me succeed. I learned how to calm myself down when I need to and pump myself up when I need that extra boost. I began believing in myself again and feel excitement with each practice and meet. I have learned that even though gymnastics is an individual sport, it takes a team of family, coaches, and teammates to help you succeed.
