Personal Statement
If I were to describe myself in two words they would be resilient and positive. The resiliency has been apparent through my whole hockey career, specifically when I was 10. I wanted to play goalie, after already skating since I was 4, like any other young hockey player. I was a pretty good little goalie until I realized I wanted to skate fast and score goals. I made it my goal to make the tier 2 girls team at my home rink. I ended up getting put onto the tier 3 girls team and was very upset, but I didn’t get discouraged. Humbly saying, I was one of the top players on the tier 3 team forcing the coach who cut me to take me the following season. That instance in my life was a big turning point. It would have been easy for me to quit and give up, but I worked hard and reached my goal. After winning 3 tier 2 state championships I realized there was a higher competition level that I was missing out on. Trying out for Little Caesar’s was only a dream until I tried out and made the team. My first year of tier 1 girls hockey was a huge learning experience. Every day that I’d come to practice I’d learn something new about the way the game is played. This year my goal is to use all of the tools my coaches have given me to really play the game right. Also my major goal I’ve had since I first found out girls can play hockey in college is to play collegiate level hockey. As senior year is approaching I have had many job shadow opportunities over the summer and the one that I can see myself doing when I am older is to become a Physician Assistant. I need to find the right college with the right academic path, so I can play hockey and pursue my vision of helping and healing people.
