Personal Statement
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t play a sport or have a ball in my hand. The aggressive, competitive nature of basketball fit my personality, so I spent years developing and honing my skills. As a freshman, I discovered lacrosse and quickly fell in love with the fast-paced strategic game. I knew I wanted to play at a higher level, and have plunged head first into learning and practicing. Whether it is sports, school, or service, I always try to achieve excellence. College, the next step in my life, will be the foundation for my future and I am eager to pursue my passion of history and human anatomy.
Being the eldest of four children, I have had many opportunities to practice responsibility and patience. In hopes of passing on my passion for athletics, I have coached and played along with them. Being a leader and example is part of the fabric of who I am. I have learned to work with with others in my family and on teams. This year I have taken up a leadership position in basketball, my other sport. I continue to show leadership, commitment, and sacrifice in my role as captain. By the end of my senior year I will have lettered seven times, and gotten the opportunity to lead as captain three times as well. This past 2017 season, I was awarded Defensive player of the year on my varsity team for showing excellent leadership abilities when our defensive captain was not able to play for most of the season. I really embraced my role as leader, and am ready for the full responsibility of the role next year and heading further into the future. I am extremely excited to continue playing lacrosse in college. I know I have what it takes to be a contributing member and leader on your team.
