Personal Statement
I have been playing lacrosse for over four years now and I would love the opportunity to play lacrosse for a college team. My preferred position is as a defender although I have played some mid-field positions also. I believe my real strength comes in my ability to cover players one-on-one and my ability to read the field. During my freshman year, I was the defensive captain for the junior varsity team at my high school where I learned invaluable leadership and communication skills that I am constantly working on. After the junior varsity season concluded, I was called up to play on the varsity team and contributed to the playoff run that culminated in the team making it to the state quarter-finals before getting eliminated. The following season I started for the varsity team and we won the regional championship and concluded our season with a loss in the state semi-finals.
While sports are my passion, academics have always been my main priority. I have consistently maintained a high grade point average including attaining membership in the National Junior Honor Society and the Honor Roll at my high school.
I am looking for a college that will fulfill my desire to achieve a degree while allowing me to continue to enjoy playing lacrosse. I always try to lead by example, both on and off the field. In addition to my normal team workouts, I work with a lacrosse coach on my own time to continue to improve my skill set.
